High-Performance Network Monitoring

The V8100 is a member of the V8000 Series, a family of purpose-built high-performance platforms for emerging high-bandwidth network monitoring applications. It offers remarkable high density for 10 Gigabit Ethernet network monitoring in an open-standards based MicroTCA® form factor. The V8100 provides up to 16 ports in one system and hundreds of ports in a stacked system, making it ideal for applications where multiple 10 Gigabit Ethernet links, a common requirement in today's redundant networks, need to be monitored. Each port is capable of performing intense deep packet inspection on network traffic in real time. The platform provides up to 1 terabyte of storage capacity for recording inspection results before forwarding them to a host computer for display and further analysis.

Versatile Monitoring Modules

The V8100 has a highly flexible modular design, and offers customized configurations for your network monitoring requirements. The default network monitoring module option for the V8100 is the V3021 dual channel 10 Gigabit Ethernet AdvancedMC^™ module.

AdvancedIO expressXG Framework

The expressXG^™ Framework provides an array of system management, configuration, and programming capabilities designed to meet the needs of today's complex high-bandwidth network situational awareness applications. The framework's innovative architecture integrated with AdvancedIO's deep packet inspection line-speed technology provides a groundbreaking combination of application simplicity, performance, and scalability across platforms. The expressXG Framework enhances application availability with one framework everywhere in the network.

Versatile Architecture

The V8100 provides two fundamental traffic processing modes for various network monitoring applications. Both channelized and cascade modes can coexist, providing maximum flexibility and performance.

System Controller

V8100 default system controller is a high-performance processor AdvancedMC^™ module featuring the Intel® Core^™2 Duo processor and Intel® 3100 Chipset. It runs a standard 64 bit Linux distribution pre-configured with expressXG Framework and all required software tools so you can quickly and easily install and operate your applications in the network.

Open-Standards Based Platform

The V8100 conforms to the MicroTCA standard and provides hot-swap control and system management functionality to accommodate reconfiguration or updates in the field. MicroTCA is an open standard for telecom industry equipment and includes provisions for NEBS compliance, redundancy, alarms and other features. The platform has a single out-of-band 10/100/1000Base-T Ethernet management port, two N+1 redundant hot-pluggable power supplies, and two hot-pluggable fan modules providing highly reliable front-to-back cooling.
