AdvancedIO® Systems Selected for Polystar 10 Gigabit Network Monitoring System

Programmable expressXG™ technology enables flexible load balancing

Vancouver, Canada, October 6, 2009 — AdvancedIO® Systems, leading provider of programmable network security, monitoring, and sensor solutions optimized for decision-critical applications, today announced that its expressXG™ technology has been selected by Polystar OSIX, a leading telecommunications supplier, for its next-generation MediaProbe network monitoring device. The first rollout of the 10-Gigabit (10Gb) MediaProbe is in a 3 Group mobile network, where the expressXG technology is used to implement load balancing functions at line rate.

Polystar chose the AdvancedIO solution because it uniquely offers the combination of performance, ease of development, and scalability that lowers development costs now and facilitates future applications and services as network traffic demands continue to increase. The AdvancedIO solution manages load balancing at line rate across multiple MediaProbes as they monitor mobile traffic. The programmability of expressXG enables rapid application integration and porting and helps preserve investment in existing infrastructure.

Military & Aerospace Electronics Forum, San Diego, CA, June 1, 2009 — AdvancedIO® Systems, the leader in high-bandwidth connectivity solutions optimized for decision-critical applications, today announced the V1121, a conduction-cooled 10-Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) XMC module with dual front-panel optical interfaces. The V1121 brings the benefits of open standards-based connectivity to real-time high-bandwidth applications operating in harsh physical environments where long cable runs or challenging electromagnetic interference (EMI) concerns preclude the use of copper-based interconnects.

The V1121’s programmability, supported by AdvancedIO’s expressXG™ FPGA framework, enables the integration of application and pre-processing functionality directly into the 10GbE fat pipe. This capability solves challenging connectivity bottlenecks that would occur in more traditional architectures where this tight integration is not possible. While found in many types of high-performance real-time systems, these bottlenecks are particularly prevalent in demanding C4ISR applications including situational awareness, signals intelligence, and network security.

“Customers have determined—sometimes as a result of painful previous experiences like running cables through exterior bulkheads in harsh environments—that copper interconnects present too many challenges,” noted Rob Kraft, VP Marketing at AdvancedIO Systems. “In these situations, optical links provide a far simpler alternative.”

The V1121 is the newest member of AdvancedIO’s V1100 family, the industry’s first family of conduction-cooled XMC products for real-time 10GbE connectivity and packet processing. Built with a Xilinx Virtex®-5 FPGA, it shares the same architecture as other field-proven AdvancedIO 10GbE products. The V1121 also has two SFP+ optical 10GbE interfaces, independent large banks of memory for buffering packets, and additional interfaces to facilitate synchronization and time stamping. The module interfaces to the host fabric via PCI Express.
